Our Story

“Connecting generations of dental professionals through shared memories, mentorship, and a commitment to excellence in oral healthcare.”

In 1964, a simple Senate resolution changed the landscape of dental education in Africa forever. What began in the humble “Pako house” – a bungalow with wooden partitions that students affectionately named – has grown into the oldest Dental School in Nigeria and West Africa.

“We believe that the strength of a nation’s healthcare system lies in its commitment to training, research, and accessible care.”

From those modest beginnings, our Faculty has produced over 1,000 graduates who now serve communities across Nigeria, Africa, and the world. Our alumni lead groundbreaking research at institutions like the University of Iowa, establish successful practices, and maintain our 15-year tradition of free community outreach programs.

By June 1971, our first batch of dental surgeons graduated, marking a pivotal moment in Nigerian healthcare history. Today, this legacy continues with ambitious projects like the five billion naira vision to transform dental infrastructure across Africa.
